What is Bikram Yoga?
Bikram Yoga is a series of 26 poses, done in a 90-minute class, that is designed
to work every muscle, organ and cell in your body.
Who can do Bikram Yoga?
All ages, all fitness and experience
levels are welcome. Regardless of your skill level, expect to work hard, sweat
a lot, have a blast and feel fantastic afterward!
Why the high temperature?
The heat in the Bikram Yoga studio causes
the body to sweat, which cools down the body while detoxifying the system and
allowing the muscles to stretch deeply. The heat also helps melt fat, thins
the blood to clear the circulatory system, improves muscle strength and prohibits
cholesterol from "sticking" to protein.
Will Bikram Yoga help me lose weight?
Absolutely. Bikram Yoga certainly speeds
along weight loss, but like any form of exercise, it is not an instant cure.
Consistent practice combined with a balanced diet is the best avenue to weight
loss. Most students will discover that as they lose fat, they gain some muscle.
This means that your weight may not change significantly, but your clothes will
fit you the way theyre supposed to!
What else can Bikram Yoga do for me?
As you incorporate yoga into your life,
you will most likely discover unanticipated but beneficial changes to your physical
and mental well-being. Other benefits of a successful Bikram Yoga regimen are
better stress management, fewer mood swings, deeper sleep, a stronger immune
system and much more!
What should I wear?
As little as possible! The room will
be hot, so shorts and a T-shirt (sports bra for women) are appropriate for both
men and women.
What should I bring?
Water, mat and a towel. For your convenience
we also rent and sell mats, towels and water. Showers and changing facilities
are also available.
How many times a week should I practice?
Consistent yogis come three to four times per week or more. Come as much
as possible during your first 6 weeks you will see amazing improvement in your
body and mind. You will then find a happy medium for classes per week.
